I recently bought my first succulent during an Ikea adventure, and I have since bought 5 more...
I love everything about them! The big test now will be if I can keep them alive. I've done a lot of research and now only time will tell. Unfortunately, my track record with plants is embarrassing. Through my research I also stumbled upon succulent propagation instructions, so I now have a tray of succulents leaves that I am desperately hoping will turn into an entire arsenal of succulent plants! Cross your fingers for me... I have a constant love-hate relationship with jeans. I don't know what it is about my body shape (bum size to thigh ratio?) but I can't find jeans that really, truly fit my body. They always fit my legs/thighs and gape around my waist.
The closest I've found so far are different fits in Citizens of Humanity, Hudson, and J Brand. What jeans do you love? I can't be the only one with this problem... Last year I splurged and bought an Omega Juice Extractor. I LOVE making my own juice with fresh fruit and vegetables. It makes me feel healthy, which then helps me make other healthy choices throughout the day. I've been really happy with my Omega juicer. I previously owned a Kuvings upright juicer, but after it broke I decided to upgrade to a sturdier model. The Omega is simple to put together and easy to clean. It gets lots of juice out of leafy greens, and the pulp comes out quite dry. My favourite combination is spinach, kale, green apple, carrots, and lemon. Do you juice?? I'd love to hear what your go-to juice is! What combinations are you loving?? As part of my "journey" to better health, I am trying to find new (low-impact) ways to exercise. Having been a competitive athlete for years, I don't really know how to ease into things slowly. My first instinct is to jump right in, set big goals, and push through pain to reach them. As I have completely fallen off the workout wagon though, I need to make sure that I get back onto it carefully. My muscles (can I still call them that?) need some time to regenerate before I dust off my sneakers. Having done yoga for years as cross-training, I decided that it is the perfect thing for me to do now as a workout. My goal is to start slowly and build my workouts gradually, so that I am more likely to stick to my workout schedule. As I am limited however by the cost of classes, a friend recommended that I try "Yoga by Adriene" on Youtube! You can check her videos out here: Have you found workouts online that you love? Leave a comment to share! I love wearing mascara every day, but I dread taking it off at night. I have sensitive skin and many eye makeup removers make the skin around my eyes red and sore. I used to use (and love) Bioderma’s “Sensibio H2O” non-rinse cleanser, but the steep price tag kept me from buying it again when my last bottle ran out.
I happened to be wandering the aisles of Shoppers Drug Mart recently and found Marcelle’s new “3-in-1 Micellar Solution”. It costs less than the Bioderma cleanser, but I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two. I love it! A pump on a cotton ball removes all the water-proof mascara from my eyelashes, no rubbing or washing off required! I highly recommend it! David's tea has recently released a set of new matcha powders. So far I've only tried the vanilla matcha, but it is delicious! I really like it with soy milk.
I worked up the courage to brave the freezing cold Toronto air a few nights ago and rewarded myself with a tea! I knew that moving close to a David's tea would be bad for my wallet... I know we are supposed to be tough Canadians, but I'm really not a fan of all this cold weather. It took a combination of slippers, a blanket, and some tea to get warmed up after my walk! There's no other way to put this: I love David's Tea. I could spend forever in their stores or exploring their website for new teas that I have yet to try. My house has an entire cupboard (maybe plural...) dedicated to different teas and tea paraphernalia. I don't know what it is about it exactly, but tea just makes me happy. I guess I can attribute it to my British heritage.
As it is February in Canada, it's pretty cold here. Even in my apartment, I've been drinking more than my fair share of tea to keep warm. Today I'm drinking Guava Cadabra from David's Tea. It's made from a combination of mango, apple, hibiscus blossoms, elderberries, guava, beetroot, and rosehips. It smells so. good. Yes, I know I'm too old to have stuffed animals in my bed. But there's something comforting about having one anyway. He normally lives on the dresser in my bedroom, but every now and then he makes it over into my bed for a quick comforting cuddle.
There's nothing quite as cute as "jelly cat" stuffies. You can get them at both Chapters and Anthropologie. They're even cute enough to be "decorative" if you want to pretend that you don't get anything out of snuggling with a stuffed animal at "twenty-something" years old. Seriously, though. Next time you're feeling down, give it a try. I'm working really hard to slow down and to learn how to relax. As a type-a person who can't stop, this is more challenging than it sounds. It's crazy to think that I have to stop and schedule activities to do that are not related to my job, but that's where I am right now. Turns out not wanting to process the grief in my life has led to some pretty self-destructive behaviour. Last week I started playing around with paints. I initially pulled out my journal to try to write some thoughts down, but that ended up being harder for me than I anticipated. I decided to put that aside for now and try painting instead. Here are my first attempts: Clearly my mind was elsewhere, as my paintbrush ended up in my coffee! After giving up completely on writing, I started doodling some flowers. |
I love tea, elephants, and photographs.
